Mission: S1 Episode 1: Caretaker, Part I
Location: CMO's Office
Timeline: MD6
511 words - 1 OF Standard Post Measure

Karen was waiting for the Chief Science Officer and the Chief Engineer, looking again at the specifications of the weapon. She frowned deeply to herself. It was not a safe thing. Not remotely. Which was the point, of course.

Maz walked in at a leisurely pace, he was in no rush to get anywhere anytime soon since he had this project before him taking presidency of his personal projects. He made a note to check in on the EMH later and see how she was developing. "Hello, doctor?" he called out not seeing her right away.

"In my officer, Lieutenant," she said, rising from behind her desk.

Maz raised a brow or two and made his way toward the office on his right. Intrepid classes were all the same save for a few aesthetics. "Ahhh, good to see you, doctor. How are you finding yourself on board?"

"Everything is going well so far," she said. "How is work proceeding with the EMH?"

"She is doing well. Bit depressive but then again, I blame myself and my interpretation of this universe. Slaves seem to like her till they get to know her demeanor." Cael chuckled, "She even scares me. Have you had a chance to work with her yet?"

"Not yet," Karen said. "I was waiting for you to work out all the kinks. She's sharp with the slaves?"

"She is sharp with everyone. Think I need to dial that back but at the same time it could work to keep crew in shape." Cael noted as he looked to a PADD on his hip. "But other projects first I suppose."

"Possibly, but emergencies might not be the time for drama," Karen said before nodding.

"Indeed." Melissa simply stated as she arrived.

"It looks like we're all here," Karen said. "The medical imperative here is fairly straightforward. No personnel can under any circumstances be exposed to thalaron radiation. Containment must be total until we are ready to deploy it as a weapon. Our margin for error is fairly small here."

"I have an idea for that." Melissa noted. "I will modify one of our engineering labs with a manipulator arm system linked up to core. I'll be able to control the arms like they were another pair of limbs. Eliminating possible exopsure to the crew, and we can keep the weapon's components isolated."

"Just need to ensure that the seals are non-organic-based around the doors. Also must protect the bio-gel packs that operate our systems. Should it even touch one, we are looking at detrimental effects that could result in an explosive death as well." Cael added knowing a thing or two about the vessel they were on.

"It sounds like we have a basic understanding," Karen noted. "When do you think you'd have specifications ready?" she asked Melissa.

Melissa spoke. "It is minor modifications. It should be done in a few hours. I'm already coordinating with my team over it."

"Would you mind notifying Lieutenant Maz and myself when you have it ready?" Karen asked.

Melissa nodded with her usual stoicism.
