Personal History | Noah James Reed was born in Magma City, Mars on Stardate: 16910.8. His parents were both civilians in different fields. His father was a geologist researcher while his mother was a botanist. His parents were typically on research assignments to various planets. As Noah grew up, he defied the conventional wisdom of following in someone’s footsteps. He was fascinated by the medical field from an early age, especially after a plague devastated a colony where his family lived at the age of nine. Jobs took his parents around the Empire, and he often spent the long trips learning about different species along the way. Sometimes it was on Imperial vessels, sometimes civilian ships. This gave him a well-rounded understanding of many different species and how they function, as well as their differences. Though he chose to follow a medical path, he received a bonsai tree one birthday from his mother. He took care of it and learned how to cultivate different varieties, a hobby he continued into adulthood. Growing into teenage years, Noah performed well in school, spending extra hours going over medical journals and watching videos related to surgeries. He was absolutely fascinated by the history of medical treatment and where such things would lead into the future. He had picked up the art of boxing from a slave owned by his parents. It would be a skill he would work hard to develop as he got older. As time in high school went on, he began to realize that Starfleet guaranteed the surest way to obtain a real education in the medical field. Noah enjoyed his time on Earth while attending the Imperial Starfleet Academy. Reed became the Academy Boxing Champion for 2363. What the official record doesn’t record is how his opponent was beaten so badly that he was forced out of the Academy due to brain injuries.Reed’s doctoral thesis was on an exploratory way of improving species survivability while enduring extreme stress levels under interrogation. A newly minted doctor, Reed was assigned to the ISS Excalibur on routine patrol near known Alliance space. He was once crucial in setting up an emergency triage center for a Starfleet outpost attacked by a rogue Alliance faction looking for supplies. He and his staff were instrumental in minimizing civilian casualties while the Excalibur defended the planet from orbit, bombing resistance anywhere it was found. This incident helped draw his next assignment to Imperial Outpost Five near Tholian space. Doctor Reed was the first Imperial doctor to perform a medical examination and dissection on a Tholian after a Tholian ship had been badly damaged due to a spatial anomaly. His initial findings were published in the Imperial Medical Journal. Shortly after those events, he was offered and he accepted the assistant chief medical officer position aboard the brand new ISS Athena. Time aboard the Athena proved fruitful for Reed. He continued to create associations that would further progress his career. And at the same time he created a successful virology lab to develop more effective and painful toxins but with a specific focus of keeping the patient alive for questioning. It was during his time aboard the Athena that his superior, the chief medical officer, died. The cause of death was officially recorded as massive cardiovascular collapse after breathing in an unknown substance. The investigation was closed shortly after by order of Captain Bensen. Reed was promoted and assumed the role of CMO not soon after that. However, several months later the ISS Athena was caught by an Alliance fleet and destroyed. Most of the crew were killed but some managed to get into escape pods. Noah Reed was among them but when a Klingon plasma torpedo ripped through the hull it took his right arm. Reed recovered from that incident via a new metal arm. He vowed to take his revenge on the Alliance in any way possible. Once he was deemed fit for duty, orders were given, sending him the ISS Vengeance, a ship he considered to have an appropriate name. |
